Granby Hillyer                             Don Dailey as Hillyer

Granby Hillyer was an attorney and politician living in Lamar.  He served in the Colorado state legislature for one term from 1903 to 1905.  It was during this tenure he was asked by the Frontier Land and Investment Company to plot the streets for a new town to be developed along the tracks of the Denver, Northwest & Pacific Railroad (The Moffat Road).  We're not sure why Hillyer, who had no civil engineering training, was given the job, but the company showed their appreciation by naming the new town Granby.  Residents of current day Granby will readily attest to Hillyer's lack of engineering skill.

Grand County native, Don Dailey, portrays Granby  Hillyer and several other Grand County Characters.  Don works for the National  Park Service and is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm.
